Starring Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Ontkean, Mädchen Amick, Richard Beymer, Lara Flynn Boyle, Sherilyn Fenn, Peggy Lipton, and Ray Wise

The second and final season of one of television's most original series finally arrives on DVD after first airing on ABC during the 1990-91 season, answering the "Who Killed Laura Palmer?" question during its midpoint. Don't expect any David Lynch commentaries--or a whole lot of extras. A combined Twin Peaks 2-season set (including the hard-to-find pilot) may be released later in 2007.

The series still holds up exceptionally well, and remains even in its slightly lesser second season one of the best things ever to air on television.

The great moments in [the] later episodes become increasingly isolated.

The New York Times Dennis Lim
The world of “Twin Peaks” is a truly rich and commodious one, attentive both to narrative mythology and to character back story, suited equally to the scrutiny of fanzines and dissertations.

Under The Radar Nick Hyman
One of the most influential television shows of all time... though we still don't have the pilot or many extras. [#17, p.102]

IGN Todd Gilchrist
Far more than "just" satisfying fans who waited to watch the rest of the show, this set will hopefully vindicate the series as one of the best ever produced.

The nifty DVD revels in the weirdness.

The extras don't add up to much... The shows, though, are as unique, baffling and bizarre as they were in 1990-91.

Boston Globe Tom Russo
Without the eerie whodunit that had helped make "Peaks" a phenomenon in its abbreviated debut season, the series relied more than ever on its true core: odd characters doing odder things, refracting as much as reflecting homey images of small-town life.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Rob Owen
I always felt that once the show got past the "Who killed Laura Palmer?" mystery, it faltered, but then righted itself before the final, shocking cliffhanger episode.

Kansas City Star Derek Donovan
Robbed of their central storyline, episodes veer off into the banal and inanely bizarre.... That is a real pity, because when the show works, it’s absolutely enthralling.

While the first season of "Twin Peaks" is a highlight of the artistic capabilities of the television medium, season two is an example of the depths of mediocrity most shows exist in.

Eric C. gave it an8:
A good show, almost classic Lynch. It's just too bad that if you want to get in to it, you'll have to buy the first season. And good luck hunting down that seemingly nonexistent beast.

David gave it a10:
One of the best TV shows ever, and Season 2 for me was even better than Season 1, pity you americans still havent got the pilot, the Australian DVD has it though, you might want to import it if your a hardcore fan.

Brad Garrett gave it a10:
best TV show ever. simple as that.

Adam G gave it a2:
Overly long winded, confusing and takes itself far too seriously.

Marc D. gave it a10:
Other than the Ben Horne Civil-War re-creation story arc, the second season is outstanding. The episodes between our knowing who killed Laura and the characters realizing the truth are truly frightening. The Giant sequences still freak me out to this day. And you've gotta love the room service waiter.

jay gave it a10:
One of my all time favs is now complete on DVD. But i'm afraid to open my set, as now I've heard it may be released again as a whole WITH the pilot??? Anyone know a date??
