[Xbox Live Arcade] Take on DJ Scruffy and the Beatniks in this combination rhythm and puzzle game. Featuring original gameplay, a unique visual style, and six amazing characters breakdancing to 20 finger-tapping songs, Go! Go! Break Steady is the ultimate hybrid of two popular and challenging genres. Will Hydro and his "All City Crew" become the Break Steady Tournament Champs and take home the most prizes? The answer depends on your own rhythm and smarts. Play it solo, team up with your friends, or play online to see who has the real Break Steady "skillz!" This original game combines the best of the music and puzzle game genres. The game features a unique visual style with characters break dancing to the beats of twenty new songs. Enjoy both multiplayer versus and cooperative local and multiplayer modes. [Microsoft]

The music is catchy.

An unexpected visual delight (especially for HDTV owners) -- and it makes an already strong multigenre affair even better.

Rookie developer Little Boy Games seems like a veteran with the release of Go! Go! Break Steady. Stylized graphics, smooth 2D character animations and a slick presentation make Go! Go! Break Steady an experience not quite like anything else out there.

Go! Go! Break Steady has taken two good fun arcade elements and mixed them up into a really cool package.

What really makes this game stand out is its b-boy stylings. [Issue#36, p.115]

Worth Playing
Go! Go! Break Steady isn't really unique, and it isn't really a must-get game, but it's a successful mishmash of three genres that, in my experience, don't usually go together — hip-hop, puzzle and rhythm.

IGN
Go! Go! Break Steady is a fun experiment in merging two genres that would seem to have nothing in common. It's like putting a walrus in your peanut butter. And yet, the results aren't half bad.

Go! Go! Break Steady is worth a spin if your into either rhythm or puzzle games just because of its blending of the two genres.

If you're into music and/or puzzle games at all, Break Steady is worth a gander for its single-player and versus throwdowns. [June 2008, p.77]

Go Go Break Steady 's mixture of two gameplay styles sounds interesting, but it doesn't work out as well as you'd hope.

It's all reasonably diverting, but the mix of genres never really gels and when things get frustrating the game lacks that basic addictive lure to keep you playing.

Team Xbox
It’s got everything you might want from an XBLA game including extra downloadable content, multiplayer options including co-operative play and the capacity for custom soundtracks. What it doesn’t have is mass appeal. Still, somewhere out there is someone who’ll give Go! Go! Break Steady the love it so dearly needs.

Console Monster
Transition between puzzle and rhythm is bad, can get pretty tedious after a while.

games(TM)
It’s difficult to label Go! Go! Break Steady’s use of two genres as a hybrid, because the rhythm–action and puzzle elements sit side by side, rather than one informing the other in any inventive way. [Oct 2008, p.121]

Gamer.nl
A breakdancing rhythm game without any gimmick to make it stand out from the Guitar Heroes and Rock Bands of this generation. The strange thing is, the button presses you have to perform are not in line with the rhythm at all! A low difficulty, even lower satisfaction level. Do yourself a favor and let this one pass.

Totally360
As an Xbox Live Arcade title, and priced at 800 points the scales of rhythm and puzzle gaming justice render a verdict of “diminished responsibility” and consign Go Go Break Steady to the swiftly played and forgotten pile.
