Our story begins in a typical house on a Friday night, one seemingly like any other within the quiet, safe streets of Suburbia. Zack is at home on a "study date" with Carrie, though he is desperately trying to interest her in more than just his math skills. While Zack is preparing to proclaim his eternal devotion, his friend Andy busts in, pestering Zack to finish the design for a new rocket-powered skateboard. Before Zack can order him and others to leave, some unexpected guests suddenly arrive and these guys are hungry...FOR BRAINS! Zombies break through the front door, and Zack's house is soon swarming with the Undead. The four intrepid teenagers manage to contain their fright, and using all sorts of household weaponry they actually fend off this zombie assault. However now they must contend with a full-scale suburban invasion, and everything from Werewolves to Witches are on the rampage - Oh My! And where has everyone else gone? Together, Zack, Carrie, Andy, and Jennifer resolve to wage a Battle for Suburbia, rescue their missing neighbors, and discover the ultimate source of this monster onslaught. The secrets they'll uncover throughout this adventure will explain the shocking truth behind their little town. [SouthPeak Interactive]

Fun, fun, and fun. That’s all Monster Madness is. Find some mates and split the cost of a copy and some beers. Not an essential purchase and a pricey one for what it is, but well worth your time.

Grave Danger's biggest problems are old bugs that never got exterminated, like the one that leaves your vehicle stuck in walls. [Aug 2008, p.87]

If you enjoyed the original game but found it frustrating, than Grave Danger will be a welcome addition. However, if you loved the challenge of the original this one will likely be a cakewalk by comparison.

I highly suggest playing the PS3 edition of Monster Madness: Grave Danger over the Xbox 360 or PC version (titled: Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia), but I definitely think there’s not much here and this gives players a dull experience.

Monster Madness: Grave Danger for the PS3 is a definite improvement over Battle for Suburbia for the Xbox 360.

Consider Grave Danger a guilty pleasure, enjoyable more for its tongue-in-cheek tone than for its actual gameplay. [July 2008, p.81]

Even though Southpeak has added a bunch of extra content to the PS3 port, at the end of the day it still feels more like a downloadable game that is worth, at most $20.

Monster Madness: Grave Danger is an improvement over the XBOX 360 title, but still has some kinks. The story is lacking and I can’t really see gamers being drawn into it again for a second go around.

Monster Madness: Grave Danger for the PS3 is an improvement over Battle for Suburbia for the 360. Unfortunately, there's not enough to make it that much better, and the overall tired concept and stale gameplay is simply not much fun.

Once you get your hands on the game, you'll find that it feels cheap and doesn't provide you with satisfying combat, which is what hack and slash titles are all about. If you're looking for zombie entertainment, I'd probably look elsewhere.

Bad graphics, minimalistic and simplistic gameplay, repetition. This game was mediocre on the 360, on the PC and now on PS3. Don’t bother getting this game. Unless you have way too much time on your hands.

A suffocating ooze of obtuse controls and repetitive button bashing. [Sept 2008, p.104]

An improved control scheme and online campaign support aren't enough to save Monster Madness from mediocrity.

Monster Madness: Grave Danger needed to be a big improvement over the original game if it was going to compete with the PS3's best titles, but it's not. It plays better than the Xbox 360 version, but the core game is essentially what it was.

The tired fashion in which the action is delivered is almost as old as the stuttering visuals that blight it at every turn, making this a monster for all the wrong reasons.

As nice as Monster Madness looks, it cannot make up for the lack of fun on offer, 90% of which is mashing the X button.

To be honest, I really, REALLY wanted to like Monster Madness. But annoying voice over, lazy cutscenes with static pictures, bad hit detection and worse attacking issues, I just can't recommend this one.

Monster Madness: Grave Danger would have been one of the weaker PSN games, even at a price of £10 or less, but as a retail game that costs more than three times that amount, it simply can't be recommended.

With horribly repetitive gameplay and awful graphics the choice between this and armageddon is still a close one. [Oct 2008, p.78]

While your first few moments with Grave Danger might actually fool you into thinking it could be fun -- especially if you're getting some co-op play on -- you'll ultimately be brought back to painful, boring reality.
